| So yeah, I'm pretty sure the bookers at W21 smoke a lot of pot cause they asked Raine if his band could play this St. Patricks day with a buncha metal bands. He replied "yes, but I don't think it'll be worth it because we'll only be able to pull of an acustic set." to which they replied "ohh that's cool!".... So yeah... If you're so inclined you can go to a metal show with screaming, grunting, growling and violence... Then 45 minutes of wussy acustic music, then resume the death and mayham of metal...
Due to the suddeness of this gig, THREE!!! count em THREE of our band members will be absent during this gig so... it'll be Raine on Vocals/guitar, Me (I'm sorry, I'll fail at music eventually then you'll never have to see me on a stage again) on drums and the very talented Cody Druin filling in for Kelly Williams on Bass.
One Down will be playing this show along with some other metal bands (hell if I know any of em).
Doors open at 6:00pm and it's $5.
March 17th... |

*still looking for vest*
Cheer up.
Back in my day, I remember driving out to Espanola to see the very first "MetalFest" that they had in the back parking lot of a Taco Bell. How cool was that?!
The bands (when they played) had the ONLY means of shade close to the action, the tent (the stage). Lol. Still, I wouldn't go too far as to say lighten-up, b/c I think someone already said something like that..... |

| ...but as far as saying that heavy metal fans, or death metal fans wouldn't appreciate a little more subtle form of music is like saying that all of those great guitar solos from the 80's-early 90's did not have an effect onto anybody that would pick up a guitar for any reason in any band of any genre.
Every genre has been overhyped, and as far as this town is considered you almost have to be forced into the exposure of another genre.....but if it happens enough times, you can see not only a historical pattern, but a healthy amount of variety in the sub-cultures, and genres, and see musicians in all of them, integrating the styles until they work. Until they can see for themselves that their work (music) has produced the innovative response that their influence has actually combined what they have been exposed to with the genre that they are pursuing to express themselves in.
*coughs* .....*panting*
Ok. I know. I don't care. lol. |
