hmmmmm..... this is a novel brewing!

Oscillation is not in any planning stages as of now, after five years of some wonderful happenings and music, things got to a point where those of us whom actually produce this are either burnt out or not really working well together as we once were. I will be the first to post here and go on the record to say that i was not impressed with the behind the scenes of just how everything went down last year. I will spare many of the details but will add that all five years i have given blood, sweat, tears, lots of time and money and have not pursued it this year because of a strong sense of betrayal. Perhaps a better way to describe it is i will not bow down to the hijacking attempt i felt the last year to be. For Osc.5 i stepped back in action and many tasks and although the event was a wonderous success there were wrongs perpertrated underneath it all. There are a handful of people here whom have been integral to this event happening and/or continuing in production promotion and muscle. Without all of that contribution it probably would not happen. However being the only one left from Oscillations inception through all five to current date, i will say it just may not happen this year.

"For Osc.5 i stepped back in action and many tasks and although the event was a wonderous success there were wrongs perpertrated underneath it all."

that pretty much sums it up for me i think. im pretty sure we have had this conversation.? i love oscillation. i have no hard feelings toward any particular people about it. only bitter that the event lost its original intent i think. maybe thats fine, the garden grows, sometimes out of control. i dunno. back to the quote really. ze crop was stolen from ze community. however it is nice to see from the back of the crowd that, well, there is a crowd. more on this soon, im at my parents and i need to get off of here so i can go play with my nephew

I'm not sure what exactly went wrong or what was not liked. I know that I volunteered money, time and my blood to the project for all the years that it happened and I only continued to thru last year. I however did not try to take over anything in relation to the operation of the fest because, well, I felt that that was Kent's and Kenny's sections. I do however feel that I could be a really good resource for doing advertising and getting this thing out there, were we to do it again. that's just my thought... but I again never wanted to step on toes and therefore I never tried to put my hat in the ring that much.

I would personally feel really REALLY bad if we didn't do it this year. Perhaps to make it happen it needs to be more of a group effort - with money tossed in to make it happen. investing in things makes people want to make it do really well even more.

just my thoughts... either way I believe that something big needs to happen this year. we owe it to ourselves.

I agree. I haven't had anything to do with Osc. since the first one, and I would like to change that.

I dunno if I would be able (or if anybody would want me) to play, but that would not stop me from helping out however I can.

The thing is, from all the things I don't know about the last Osc, and all the cold shit that went down...

if we get more people (who are serious) more involvment in the project I think that we might be able to be maybe a bit more civil about sharing the creative efforts to make this happen.

I'm not saying anything bad about anyone. I have no idea what some of you are talking about, but I am glad that you are.

The main reasons why this thing got started was to represent New Mexico and all of the musicians whose music did not fit into the clean-cut realm of our societal enviroment. The concept of an "Underground" was still kicking and screaming into the night, but I do think that some of us still want it to be what it once was.

I have considered paying homage to the culture that opened their minds and listened to music that I thought did not have enough depth or structure to be what others thought was good music.

To clarify what I just said, too many opinions have been taken too seriously by too many people that think they know better, but it has never stayed that way with any of us.

Just a thought.

I know that I can hardly speak for myself considering my lack of involvment, but that doesn't mean my thoughts are going to waste. I may be blind to many things, but I am not blind to everything and I don't want to see anybody going through too much to have someone screw them over again.

We need to remember that there is a community out there. We have to find a way to reach that thin piece of air that we call freedom and excite those who are down on their luck, to bring them into a place where we can show our love of music...

without abandoning our honesty, or joy.

If people don't believe in it, then it won't mean a fucking thing at all.

I agree with ghost. he and I have been thru a lot of shit but we both know now I think that it's really important to hang on to what you have. if we ditch osc. this year, we won't do it next year, and it won't happen again, in my opinion. I don't know what happened last year... I personally loved the whole show and I think that it gets better every year... but if there was drama, as Kay once said to me, "work it out, kiss and make up".

or something.

if I can help... lemme know.

I also want to say that since playing the first osc. with ghost in distorted frequency it has come to be a real thing for me every year, something that sort of signifies the passing of one time to another, of a new season, of changes, and of meeting with good friends for one night of partying.

I love that.

I spun at the first two and shared the stage with fine folks for the last three. i would like to see another one but there's no use crying over spilled milk. if it doesn't happen, start your own thing but doing something "big" this year sounds mighty tempting too. time and discussions will tell.
