I don't know about you but I'm getting pretty fed up with Myspace!!! Its mindless, sexist and half the time it doesn't seem to work properly! I just placed a profile on a new networking site called Zaadz - and it is very much a step above other networking sites - here is a link to it:
[Zaadz.com is now Gaia.com]
Please check it out and sign up - the quality of the discourse is much more intelligent and is committed to making positive change in the world - not making more money for Rupert Murdoch! It has a deep commitment to progressive organizations and causes - it will not accept advertising money from companies that pollute, promote unhealthy working conditions or discriminate. You could say its Myspace with ethics. Lets offer our support to it!

yeah i checked it out breifly, it's not really setup to cater toward bands at all, for all the bashing myspace gets as of late, i have to say i have set up over 30 shows with bands from all over the US and a couple from outside the US via MS. i/we have booked nearly a dozen out of state shows for ourselves, i have found bands from all over the globe that share some interest in the extremities which noise and experimental music has to offer, many of the small to mid size bars and venues do most of their booking through myspace (burt's does roughly 90% of thier booking there, until or unless someone comes up with a site that functions as readily-for free- and attracts a global base i do not see anything being near as effective, if you drive a car you pollute, if you work in service industry and/or for minimum wage you are part of unhealthy working conditions, and discrimination affects most of us everyday from school to the workplace to clubs, i fail to see how using another networking site changes those things, i am not saying murdoch & company are saints or that they are not doing what you purport, i am saying until you/me/ or someone comes up with a better alternative (specifically for bands/musicians a more effective change always comes from within what already exists!

I see your point, Myspace has served us well too....but I feel we can get our music to another audience and expand our base of support to a more "conscientious" audience it will only expand our efforts too. I found people who experiment and produce electronic and noise music on Zaadz too. Just another option to get your work out. Also if you are using services like File Den its easy to create links on your Zaadz site so people can listen to your music. I just think this site is worthy of our support......
