Hey yall.. i'm looking into investing in a laptop soon... i'll mostly be using it for school (writing to my essays and such, mostly,) so that's not really anything i need help in looking for...

although, i would like some help in picking one out for use onstage... i'd be running (most likely, so far at least,) fruity loops, maybe acid, for running soft synths as well as live sampling. Not a big workload, but just enough for me to keep my hands busy...

So what would yall reccomend as far as that goes when i run into a store looking for a laptop?
like... woah... you dig?

get a mac and logic express 8 and some softies. if you get a recent mac you can run windows on it too so youd have the fruit. but you know i love the mac. but if thats out of reach iv seen vaios at office max for 600 so id guess you could do much better used. craigslist? ableton is a really awesome program too! just ideas.

Ewww Macs. Haha I kid Zebra.

Actually Zebra is right I looked in Consumer Reports and Macs were up there on laptops. But if you are looking at strictly Windows based go after Toshiba. Can't remember which models got good reviews sadly. But if you check out the Consumer Reports at a library it should tell you which ones.
